How GigKong handles your data
GigKong is a booking marketplace connecting venues and musicians/bands in Skopje, North Macedonia. The app is free to download and browse; sending or accepting booking requests, messaging and seeing contact details need a paid subscription. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, who processes it, and how to get it deleted.
01Overview
GigKong exists to help venues book live musicians and bands, and to let music lovers discover live shows. To do that, we collect the account, profile, and booking information described below — nothing more. Every field in this policy maps to something the app actually does; there's no data collected "just in case."
02Data we collect
All of the data below is linked to your account and collected directly from what you type or upload — never inferred, purchased, or pulled from another app.
| Data | Collected when | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Email & password | Sign up / sign in | Account creation and authentication. Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text. |
| Full name | Onboarding / profile | Shown on your public profile. |
| Contact details: phone number, contact email, contact person name (venues), Instagram / Facebook / website / other links | Onboarding / profile | Stored privately. Shown only to venues or artists with an active subscription who can contact you, never to the general public. Your Spotify and YouTube links stay public so people can listen. |
| Profile photo & gallery photos | Onboarding / profile | Displayed on your public profile. |
| Bio, genres, act size, price, equipment, parking, opening hours | Onboarding / profile | Listing details shown to the other side of the marketplace. |
| Legal name, legal address, business name, representative name, registration number | Onboarding (required) | Each booking is a direct contract between a musician and a venue; this identifies the contracting party. |
| Venue address and map location (coordinates) | Venue profile | Shown on the venue profile so musicians can find it; opens in Google Maps. The coordinates are the business address you pick, not your device location. |
| Artist base area (optional) | Artist profile | An approximate area (rounded to about 1 km) used for the distance filter in Discover. |
| Social / music links | Musician profile (optional) | Lets a venue hear or see a musician before booking. |
| Bookings, availability, blocked days, cancellation reasons | Using the app | The core booking feature. |
| Saved artists | Using the app | Remembers the artists a venue saved. Visible only to that venue. |
| Referral code and referral history | Referrals screen | Tracks invitations and reward credits. |
| Chat messages | Messaging | Coordination between a venue and an artist. Readable only by the two of them, and only while the reader has an active subscription, enforced at the database level. |
| Reviews & star ratings | After a completed show, by the venue or the artist | Public reputation signal on the musician's or venue's profile, with the short comment you write. |
| Saved login on your device (optional) | Only if you choose to switch between accounts | Stored in your phone's secure storage so you can switch accounts without signing in again. Never your password. You can remove it any time from the menu. |
| Reports & blocks filed against another user | Using the safety tools | Trust & safety — lets us act on abuse. |
| Subscription status (active or not, plan, expiry date) | When you subscribe | Unlocks booking, messaging and contact details. Deleted with your account. |
| Purchase identifier and receipt | When you subscribe or restore | Handled by Apple or Google to process and restore your subscription; our server checks it with them. We never receive your card or payment details. |
| Address search text | When a venue searches for its address | Sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to find the place. No account data is sent. |
| Push notification token | When you turn on notifications | Delivers booking and message alerts. Deleted on sign-out or account deletion. |
03What we don't do
- Not collected Precise or coarse location — your city is a field you type, never read from device GPS.
- Not present Analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or attribution SDKs. (The subscription provider in section 6 handles purchases only.)
- Never Selling or sharing your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- Never Tracking you across other companies' apps or websites.
04Why we collect it
Every data type above exists for one purpose: making the app function — creating your account, showing your profile, running bookings, and keeping the marketplace safe. We don't use your data for analytics, personalization, or advertising, because we don't do any of those things.
05Who can see your data
- Other users see what your role makes public: a venue sees a musician's profile, availability, and reviews; a musician sees a venue's profile, address and reviews. Your phone, email, contact person and social links are visible only to a subscribed venue or artist. Chat messages are visible only to the two people in that conversation.
- GigKong (the operator) can access data as needed to run the service, respond to support requests, and act on reports.
- Supabase, our backend infrastructure provider, stores the data on our behalf under a standard processor relationship. They don't use it for their own purposes.
- Apple and Google process the subscription payment under your Apple ID or Google account, under their own privacy policies. Our server checks your purchase receipt with them and stores only whether your subscription is active and when it ends. We never receive your card or payment details.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) receives the address text a venue types into the address search, together with the device's IP address, in order to return results.
- No one else. We don't share data with advertisers, analytics companies, or data brokers.
06Subscriptions & payments
GigKong is free to download and browse. A GigKong Access subscription (EUR 9.99 per month, or the local price shown in the store) unlocks sending and accepting booking requests, messaging, and seeing other users' contact details.
- Billing: the subscription is bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play and charged to your store account. We never see or store your card details.
- Renewal: it renews automatically each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Managing or cancelling: in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
- Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in the store first so you are not charged again.
- Subscribing is optional. Without it you can still browse every venue and artist, manage your profile and availability, and decline requests.
07Retention & deletion
You can delete your account at any time from your profile picture menu (top right) → Delete account, without contacting support. When you do:
- Your profile, photos, contact details, messages and personal identifiers are removed.
- Your upcoming bookings are cancelled and the other party is told.
- Records of past bookings are anonymized rather than hard-deleted, so the other party to a booking keeps a legitimate transaction record — the same way a receipt survives a returned item.
- Your push notification token and subscription record are deleted immediately. If you had bookings, your login is permanently disabled; otherwise the account is removed completely.
- Your store subscription is not cancelled automatically; cancel it with Apple or Google.
08Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Access your data — it's all visible in your own Profile screen.
- Correct it — every field in your profile is editable.
- Delete it — via the in-app account deletion flow described above.
- Ask us directly — email us (below) for anything the app doesn't handle on its own.
09Security
All traffic between the app and our backend is encrypted in transit (TLS). Chat messages, contact details and personal data are protected by row-level access rules so that only the intended parties can read them — not even other signed-in users.
10Children
GigKong is a business tool for booking live music and is not directed at children. The app is not for anyone under 16, and venue and musician/band accounts require you to be at least 18. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under these ages.
11Changes to this policy
If we materially change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page and, where required, ask you to re-accept our Terms in-app.
